Paletteline: how to use it

A short manual, the same words the support page links to.

The idea in one paragraph

Paletteline is a personal colour analysis. You give it a photo taken in daylight, seven short questions, or both, and it decides one of the twelve seasons of the colour consulting tradition, shows the four dimensions undertone, depth, clarity and contrast, and builds your palette. You can try the colours on your own photo, correct everything, and keep the analyses in your history. Everything stays on your phone.

What it does not claim

Paletteline measures, explains and recommends inside an unregulated colour consulting tradition. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and it makes no claim of scientific accuracy. Lighting, make-up, filters and screen settings change the result, and the app shows where it is uncertain instead of hiding it. No colour is forbidden; the strongest wording is "harder near the face".

First run

The cover says what the app does and what it does not claim, and asks at most one optional question, with a Skip. Then Home is empty until your first analysis: "No analysis yet. Take a photo in daylight and meet your palette."

Your first analysis

Open the app and tap the plus, then choose "Photo analysis". The prep screen lists what makes a good photo: bare face, no filter, daylight, hair back, a neutral top. Tap "Open camera" and take the photo, or choose one from your library. The sample points appear on the detected face, and you can move them. Tap "Use this photo", and the result reveals your season, the confidence in words, the four dimensions and the trace that shows how the app got there, in the same order the trade works: warm or cool first, then light or deep, then clear or soft.

The questionnaire

Choose the questionnaire instead of the photo, or answer it after an analysis. It has seven questions, one per screen, each with a short explanation. Every answer is a hint, not a measurement. If the photo and the questionnaire disagree, the app shows both and lets you decide which to keep; it never silently averages them.

Correcting a result

Open the result and use "Adjust the sample points" to move a point on the saved photo; the estimate recomputes as you move it. "Change the answers" opens the questionnaire again with your previous answers. "Choose a season yourself" sets your own season; it is final, labelled as set by you, and the measured estimate stays visible next to it. Every analysis in your history can be corrected the same way.

Your palette

The palette shows your season's colours in categories: the best colours, neutrals, and the ones to keep away from your face. Where a colour is difficult, the app says "harder near the face" and tells you what to do instead: trousers, shoes, bags, or an accent away from the face.

Try-on

Try-On puts colours on your own photo so you can compare them side by side, one family at a time: warm against cool, light against deep, clear against soft. The free plan opens the studio with the basic drapes; the full studio and saved comparisons are part of Pro.

Lessons and the game

Learn holds the lessons, the quiz and the palette memory game. The basics and the game are free; the advanced lessons are part of Pro.

History

Every analysis is kept, newest first, with its method, season, confidence and its correction actions. Swipe left to delete, or long-press for the same actions; there is a short undo afterwards.

Settings

The gear in every screen's toolbar opens Settings: Language, Appearance, Left-handed layout, Face ID lock (Pro), Export (CSV free, PDF Pro), Reset app data, Pro with restore and manage subscription, Help with this manual and the support page, Legal (privacy, terms, Impressum) and About with the version and the disclosure.

Your privacy

There is no account and no server. The app makes no network request, the photo is processed on your iPhone with Apple's Vision and never uploaded, and nothing leaves the device unless you export it yourself. Reset app data deletes every analysis and its photo on the phone; your subscription and your settings stay.
