Common questions

Do I need an account? No. There is no account, no login and no server. Everything stays on your iPhone.

Where is my data? In the app's own storage on your device. We never receive it and cannot see it. If you delete the app, its data is deleted with it. A phone backup includes it according to your Apple settings.

I have a new iPhone. Are my entries still there? Only if you bring them. Restore the new device from your iCloud or computer backup and Gutline comes back with its diary. Without a backup we have no copy. With Gutline Pro you can also export all entries as a CSV file and keep it yourself.

How do I add an entry? On Today, tap "Symptoms". Set the severity, pick the stool type, tap the symptoms you had, and save. More in the manual.

Why can I not add another entry today? Without an active subscription, for example after one has ended or as a user of the earlier free version, up to three new entries a day are possible. Everything you already recorded stays readable and editable. Gutline Pro removes the limit.

How do I get a report for my doctor? On Today or in Settings, open the doctor report and tap share. The report is a PDF of the last 90 days. Share it wherever you like. Nothing is sent to us. The PDF report and the CSV export are part of Gutline Pro.

How do I add a photo? Photos are part of Gutline Pro. In the entry, tap "Attach a photo" and choose one from your library. The photo stays on the device and does not appear in the PDF report.

How do I correct or delete an entry? Tap it to edit. To delete, swipe left on it on Today or in History, or long-press it. Deleting takes effect at once and cannot be undone. Earlier entries are in History. "Delete all entries" in Settings removes every diary entry and photo, but not the food log, the medication plan and your settings. You delete those one by one, or you delete the app.

How do I cancel my subscription? Settings, Apple ID, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Cancelling stops the renewal; your entries stay on the device.

How does the free trial work? The purchase screen shows before purchase whether a trial is offered and how long it is, and the date the subscription starts. If you cancel in Apple's settings at least 24 hours before, nothing is charged. If you wish, Gutline reminds you two days before it ends.

How do I restore a purchase? Tap "Restore purchases" on the purchase screen or in Settings.

How do I get my money back? Purchases go through Apple, so refunds do too: https://reportaproblem.apple.com

Is Gutline a medical device? Does it diagnose? No. Gutline records what you enter and shows it back to you. It does not assess any symptom, gives no medical advice and does not say what caused a symptom. For questions about your health, talk to a doctor.

I found a bug or have an idea. Write through the contact form. A screenshot and the iOS version help.

Accessibility

Gutline uses the standard iOS controls and labels key buttons and charts for VoiceOver. Parts of the text have a fixed size and do not yet follow your text size setting. If something is hard to use, tell us.
